Footrest Height & Angle Calculator
Enter your height and your desk height. We'll give you the chair height to aim for, whether you actually need a footrest, and the exact height and tilt to look for. Most calculators only ask your height, but the desk is half the math.

Floor to the top of the desk.
How we calculated this
We estimate two things from your height using standard body proportions: the seat height that puts your feet flat on the floor (about 25.5% of your height) and how far your elbow sits above the seat (about 13.5%). Setting your chair so your forearms meet the desk fixes the seat height, and whatever gap is left to the floor is your footrest height:
footrest ≈ desk height − (0.39 × your height)
It's an estimate, not a measurement. To confirm, set your chair so your forearms are about level with the desk, then measure the gap from your soles to the floor. See the feet-don't-reach-the-floor fix and the height & angle guide. Posture targets follow Cornell Ergonomics, OSHA, and Mayo Clinic; the 30° swelling angle follows a 2014 study.
This is exactly the gap the KomfiNest Bamboo Foot Rest is built to fill: three height-and-tilt angles to dial in your number, a 16-inch top for both feet, and solid bamboo rated to 250 lb.
